The winners of the 70th National Film Awards were announced at the National Media Center in New Delhi on Friday. The ceremony will be held at a future date, when the best Indian films produced across languages in the calendar year 2022 will be honoured by the President. Feature and non-feature films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, were eligible for contention. This year’s jury includes Chairperson of the Feature Film Jury, Rahul Rawail; Nila Madhab Panda, Chairperson of the Non-Feature Film Jury; and Gangadhar Mudalair, Chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury.

Best Actor – Rishab Shetty: Rishab Shetty emerged victorious as Best Actor for his compelling portrayal in the blockbuster film “Kantara,” a movie he also directed. His subtle performance struck a chord with both audiences and critics.
Best Actress – Nithya Menon: Nithya Menon’s portrayal in “Thiruchitrambalam” has captivated audiences and critics alike, earning her the Best Actress award at this year’s National Film Awards. The Tamil film, directed by Mithran Jawahar, is a heartwarming narrative about love, loss, and familial bonds, with Menon delivering a performance that is both powerful and nuanced.
Best Actress – Manasi Parekh: Manasi Parekh has been recognized for her exceptional role in the Gujarati film “Kutch Express,” which has garnered widespread acclaim for its depiction of cultural and personal identities. Parekh’s performance as the lead character is a masterclass in acting, blending vulnerability with strength.
Best Feature Film – “Aattam”: The Malayalam-language drama “Aattam” clinched the prestigious Best Feature Film award. Inspired by the American courtroom drama “Twelve Angry Men,” the film had earlier garnered acclaim at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.
Best Supporting Actor and Actress: Neena Gupta and Pawan Malhotra were recognized as Best Supporting Actress for “Uunchai” and Best Supporting Actor for “Fouja,” respectively, adding depth and dimension to their roles.
Best Entertaining Film – “Kantara” :’Kantara’, which is one of the blockbusters of Sandalwood, once again made it high with the two new crowns of ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Entertaining Film’ at the 70th National Film Award. Directed by Rishab Shetty, ‘Kantara’, is an action thriller film that was released in 2022. The movie stars Rishab Shetty and Kishore in lead roles, and the film was critically acclaimed.
