At a recent event, Anushka Sharma opened up about how she and Virat Kohli personally cook meals for their children, Akaay and Vamika, sharing insights into their family life and the reasons behind this hands-on approach.
Anushka Sharma recently appeared at a promotional event recently in Mumbai. Notably, this marked the Anushka’s return to the city after nearly seven months after she gave birth to her son Akaay in London. At the event by a healthy food and snacks brand that she endorses, the mother of two spoke about parenting her kids with her husband Virat Kohli and more. She also spilt the beans about how the star couple’s approach towards parenthood and how they wish to raise their kids.
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma tied the knot in 2017. They later welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Vamika in 2021. Earlier this year, they welcomed their second child, a son, whom they named Akaay.

Talking about food, Anushka said, “We had this discussion at home that if we don’t make the food our moms made at home, then we won’t be passing these recipes on to our kids. So, sometimes I cook, and sometimes my husband cooks, and we really try to replicate the way our mothers did. I cheat a little by calling my mom to ask for recipes, but it’s so important. It’s like you’re passing on something valuable to your children.”

During the interaction, she also revealed her commitment to maintaining a routine for their kids. Anushka revealed how the pair maintains a routine for her kids, despite their frequent travels as a family.
She said, “I am very particular about routine. We travel a lot as a family, and my kids experience many changes in their lives. So, by creating a routine for them, I am giving them a sense of control. Meal times are fixed—no matter where we are, we eat at the same time and sleep at the same time. It helps them regulate themselves much better.”
The actress also opened up about having dinner early and the benefits of it. She said “My daughter has her dinner early. She would eat at around 5.30 since she sleeps early. So most of the time it used to be just me and her at home, so I thought let’s just eat now, and I saw the benefit that came out of it. I slept better, I felt fresh in the morning.”
Anushka also spoke about how her social life has changed since becoming a mother. She joked “I can only hang out with people who do the same, and that’s very few. People invite us to dinner, and I’m like… you’re probably eating a snack at the time we eat dinner.
The actress acknowledged the lifestyle shift that comes with raising children, and how challenging it can get at times.
Anushka’s next film
Anushka will be next seen in the upcoming sports biopic film Chakda Xpress. It is based on the life of former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami and will stream exclusively on OTT. The final release date of the film is still awaited.
