3. Mirzapur (Seasons 1 & 2)

OTT Platform : Amazon Prime Video

IMDb: 8.4 (Season 1)

“Mirzapur” is a gripping crime and action series set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh. It follows Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), a powerful mafia lord, and his hot-headed son. The story intensifies when two brothers, played by Ali Fazal and Vikrant Massey, are hired to manage Kaleen Bhaiya’s operations, leading to a violent power struggle. The show is known for its raw portrayal of crime, abusive language, and brutal violence, making it unsuitable for the faint-hearted. While the authentic UP accent and stellar performances, especially by Pankaj Tripathi, make the series captivating, the much-awaited Season 2 introduces too many new characters and subplots, making it less impressive than the first. Nonetheless, it’s worth watching to see the story unfold.

4. Criminal Justice(Season 1 & 2 & 3)

OTT Platform: Hotstar

IMDb: 8.1 (Season 1) / 7.4 (Season 2)

In both seasons, a struggling small-time lawyer takes on the gripping cases of innocent victims accused of murder. Pankaj Tripathi’s stellar performance adds life to the series, which might have otherwise felt monotonous. The show highlights the plight of these wrongly accused individuals, but despite the compelling plot, the first season feels unnecessarily dragged as it progresses. Nonetheless, it’s worth watching for Pankaj Tripathi’s brilliant performance.
