“Raid 2,” starring Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Vaani Kapoor, has kicked off its theatrical run with an impressive opening. The crime thriller emerged as the top pick for moviegoers on May Day, standing out despite tough competition from other Bollywood releases. Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 Storms the Box Office on Day 1!
‘Raid 2’ hit the screens on Thursday, enjoying the benefit of Maharashtra Day/ Labour Day, which added to its collection. The film is also competing with ‘Kesari: Chapter 2’, which has been performing decently in theatres. Raid 2 raked in a solid ₹19.71 crore net on its opening day at the Indian box office. While advance bookings hinted at a strong start, it was the last-minute ticket surge that truly made the difference. The film left competitors like Kesari Chapter 2, Jaat, and The Bhootnii far behind this Labor Day. Factoring in taxes, the total gross collection for Day 1 comes to ₹23.25 crore.
Meanwhile, Nani’s ‘HIT: The Third Case’ is the fresh release down South, and has earned around Rs 18 crore on its first day. It was one of the most anticipated Telugu releases, and is expected to grow from here, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
Since there’s no big Hindi film releasing today, it will be interesting to see if Raid 2 keeps up its strong performance and stays on top at the box office.

Raid 2 sees Ajay return as Indian Revenue Service Officer Amay Patnaik, who conducts a raid on Dada Manohar Bhai’s property. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor, along with Saurabh Shukla in a special appearance, reprising his role from Raid. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak and Krishan Kumar, the film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series and is a Panorama Studios production.
